The group was looking for a replacement for Andy York, since he would be retiring from the group at the end of the year. I get the call from my bud Scott Tennant to see if I’d be interested in auditioning for the LAGQ. Wow, are you kidding!? I'm there, Scott!!
Of course, I was beside myself with excitement at the possibility of playing with the guys. But I knew that the audition process wouldn't be easy. So, for the next few months I would try to stay calm, keep my feet on the ground, be myself, and be the best musician I could be. Sometimes it was difficult not to get carried away and dream a little... But I couldn't obsess about it too much anyway; besides other musical projects and teaching, my wife, Sharon, and I were still getting used to caring for our 1-year old son, Jacob. Exhausting! But joyous. Kind of like practicing...
