LAGQ to premiere and tour a new piece by Shingo Fujii in March
In March 2012, the
Grammy-winning Los Angeles Guitar Quartet will conduct a three-day
residency with students from the Loudon County Guitar Program, which
will culminate with the world premiere of a new work by Kyoto-based
composer/guitarist Shingo Fujii. The piece is entitled “Shiki”
(Fantasia on Japanese Folksongs), and is dedicated to the victims of
the 2011 earthquake and tsunami. The piece was commissioned by
the Loudon County Guitar Program, and will be performed as the finale
of the LAGQ recital on March 14. LAGQ will be joined by a 68-piece
guitar orchestra comprised of students and teachers from the program,
conducted by Mr. Fujii.
